24.04.09: SNH Approves Machrihanish Dunes
The new golf course for Kintyre, Machrihanish Dunes, due to open later this year has been built in a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The course has been developed around preserving the site but also creating an additional course that will hopefully attract more golfers to the area.

Willie MacDonald, aged 65 retired from serving as Campbeltown's Harbour Master last week who has served as Harbour Master for 19 years.

24.04.09: Campbeltown Upgrades
Campbeltown Town Centre Regeneration Project is one of several projects which sees proactive development work carried out in large towns in Argyll and Bute. Money from Argyll & Bute Council totalling £30,000 has been awarded and will go long way to helping regenerate the town and is particularly welcome in these difficult economic times. Further funding can now be applied for to further advance the Towns regeneration.

The future of Vestas factory by Campbeltown is still unsure as MP's and support organisations try to secure a replacement renewable energy company to make use of the workforce and facilities.

23.1.09: Argyll Forestry Lease
Some of Argyll's forests under a new Climate Change Bill could be leased to private companies for the purposes of generating renewable energy projects. This could mean some Forestry Commission jobs could be transferred to private companies.

21.1.09: Poor Roads Affecting Tourism
The poor state of the A83 road north of Tarbert could be affecting tourism and localised public spending. The section of road a few miles north of Tarbert has been in a significant and detrimental poor state of repair for over 12 months, the solution of which was to temporary fill (badly) and place a temporary surface sign. If you have a low sports car you should drive with care if at all as the road may cause significant damage to low cars.
